December Wellness Tips

Fall has come to an end, as we enter into December. Time to embrace the cold as winter officially begins on the 21st.

This month invites us all to embrace joy, connection and reflection as the year comes to a close.

Winter can be a challenging season for some, remember to maintain a consistent body temperature when you are indoors and outdoors.

Tip to balance body temperature

Avoid taking a hot shower then heading outside, if you’re tight for time, try ending your shower with cool water to dilate the vessels and improve immunity.

Tip to increase energy

With less sunlight you may notice you have less energy, add a mid-day stretch to increase blood flow. Or get outside for 15 mins when the sun is at its strongest (12pm-2pm) to help reduce Seasonal Affect Disorder (SAD)- remember to bundle up.

Tip to beat a winter cold

If you notice you might have caught a slight chill, enjoy a warm cup of bayberry tea to help fight off a winter cold.

Time to Reflect

The cold, crisp air invites us indoors and gives us time to for introspection. As 2023 comes to a close, we can reflect on the year passed and take time to assess how we want to step into the coming year.

Take note of the things that you feel you did well and what worked for you. Also, note any areas you would like to see improvement.

Lastly, begin to re-evaluate your lifestyle as a whole and where/how you can incorporate these changes in a sustainable way.

Honour where you are in this moment, celebrate another year and welcome what is to come!

Celebrating the Holidays

As the holiday season approaches and the events begin, we tend to indulge more this time of year.

With celebrations and quality time spent with loved ones, we can expect an increase in late nights, paired with rich and delicious meals.

Enjoy all that this time has to offer, and be sure to get adequate rest.

Also, choose an extra serving of greens to add some healthy and needed bitters to your plate. This will balance the heavy and rich food that tend to cause stagnation of the blood- which looks like inflammation and puffiness in the body.

This is the most wonderful time of the year, enjoy it to the fullest and prepare for the year ahead!
