HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

The beginning of a new year can be an interesting time for most.

With the hopes and motivation to start the year with positive intentions but also dealing with the dead of winter, it can be challenging.

Dark days and frigid nights can leave you feeling fatigued and depleted.

Tip 01: Routine

One way to beat the dreariness is by sticking to your routine, this not only assists with managing your day but also improves your immunity. Be in bed by 10pm and rise with the sun (when possible). Also, eat your last meal by sundown, this will help ease digestion and support the body.

Tip 02: Self-Care

Up your self-care this time of year, choose warming and nourishing activities that leave you feeling satisfied and energized. Try a new creative project like painting or crochet. This will allow you to stimulate your mind and body without overdoing your senses.

Tip 03: Reflect

The stillness gives the opportunity for deep reflection and contemplation of the year(s) passed, take full advantage of this time. This is the most “yin” time of the year, according to Traditional Chinese Medicine, meaning it’s time to turn inward and prepare for the rebuilding that is to come.

The Funny thing about Resolutions

Only 17% of people set goals- and not only during the New Year. From the 17%, only 14% have a plan and 3% write it down.

But here’s where it gets interesting, those that have a plan increase their chance of success by 10 and those that write it down increase their chance of success by 3.

Meaning if you have a plan AND write it down, you’re 30 times more likely to meet your goal.

If you know you would like to see some changes in your health or in your life in the near future and you’re determined to achieve success, then it would be wise to set a goal, make a plan and write it down.

My Top 3 Tips for Good Goal Setting

01. Start Small to avoid Overwhelm

Start with one small goal, once you’re able to continue with that consistently then add another one and keep adding only once you have fully integrated the first one.

02. Make it Fun for YOU

There is no point implementing a habit if you don’y enjoy it. Your body won’t respond as effectively and the healthy goal you’re looking to achieve will seem more challenging possibly disheartening.

03. Be Accountable

Find a friend, partner, spouse, someone to help keep you on track and encouraged during the process. Even better if you have a similar goal you are both working towards.
