February Wellness Tips
The rush of the New Year begins to subside as we approach the month of February. This is a month of transition as we leave the dreariness of winter behind and move into the budding spring that lies ahead.
Because of this transition it can be challenging for those who aren't prepared for this tumultuous time.

You may notice a shift in your emotions where you might be feeling more frustration, self-critical and even bitterness.
This is due to the increased demand placed on the liver and gallbladder. Whose responsible for producing, storing and releasing bile, the substance necessary for breaking down the fats that were stored over the winter.
Try the liver-loving BCC juice, this brightly coloured tonic contains a handful of veggies that are known to support the liver and cleanse the blood- recipe provided below.
Other ways to support your liver is to increase bitter and sour foods, which will help to decongest and provide relief. Some examples include leafy greens such as kale, collards, spinach and chard as well as citrus and fermented foods and anything pickled.

You may also notice that your appetite is weaker than previous months.
Honour this by reducing your intake of grains, meats and sweets- your body is transitioning and preparing for its annual Spring Cleanse around the time of the Equinox (March 20th, 2025).
To achieve and maintain balance this month choose bitter, sour and pungent tastes. This will counteract the heaviness that the spring has to offer.
Choose spices like cumin, cayenne and turmeric to ignite digestion and keep you energized. As well as herbs like fenugreek and holy basil to support healthy circulation.

We've made it to the end of winter, expect one more big snowfall for the season.
As we approach spring, now is the time to start preparing for the season ahead. Plan the crops for your garden and being purging your home and body of any unwanted “stuff”.
This list is focused on healthy weight loss. If that is not your goal, you can also purge unwanted/unhealthy habits, thought patterns, and behaviours.
My Top 3 Tips for Healthy Weight Loss
01. You gotta SWEAT
Fun fact: when you lose fat, the fat molecules are released from the body as water. So if you’re looking to shed a few pounds you gotta sweat… or cry a whole lot.
02. Prioritize Digestion
Without proper digestion there is no health. Choose foods that not only will help you achieve your goal but will also be nourishing and enjoyable.
03. Know YOUR Why
Understanding the reason behind your goal will help to shift your mindset to a long-term perspective and will help you to stay motivated when you’d “rather not.”
